Wat Phra That Doi Suthep is Chiang Mai?«??s most famous and important landmark, situated 3,520 feet above sea level on a heavily forested mountain. It is said to contain holy Buddha relics in its golden pagoda is the site for Buddhist pilgrims to visit throughout the year. To ascend to the top of the temple, you must travel up 306 steps, a challenging feat. For those unable to walk up that path, there is an optional funicular railcar to transport you up.
